TOGETHER ALONE
840 meters above sea level and hours from the nearest town, I stand in the stillness of a place like no other I've been. The silence is all consuming. If a pin dropped on the peak of a mountain far on the horizon, it would surely sound like thunder. A single bird flys overhead to remind me that time has not actually frozen. Remote, isolated, desolate, yet overwhelmingly reassuring. I suppose this is how it feels to be connected to something far more profound than the musings of modern humanity. How could I ever ask for more? I know that in time I will.
